Download and Install Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Final Standalone!

March 21, 2008 38 comments

Choose your system type bit of operation:
Download Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Final Standalone (32-bit)

Download Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Final Standalone (64-bit)

To determine what bit of your operation system, right click your computer and select properties.
Under system type, it will tell you what bit operating system you are currently using.

Description:

SP1 for Vista is finally ready for
download. Microsoft is already delivering the big Vista update over the
automatic update function.

In fact, Microsoft had already completed SP1for Vista by the beginning of February, but it was only intended for selected groups. But now it is ready. Starting now, anybody who wants to can download SP1 in both 32-bit and 64-bit installations from Microsoft’s Download Center.

What is available is the initial "Wave 0" version of SP1, which is
only in the English, German, Spanish, and French languages. A second
variant, known as "Wave 1", which will update Vista in all of its other
language versions will be released at a later time — the exact date is
not yet clear. The installation packets update all versions of Vista
from Starter to Ultimate. The 32-bit variant is 434 MB and the x64
packet is 726 MB.

The Windows update function, on the other hand, downloads a
significantly leaner version, which only contains data for the version
and language installed on the system; depending on how current the
updates for the existing installation are, the download should be
around 70 MB. Installing SP1 can take several hours and requires, at
least temporarily, several GB of free space on the hard drive.

SP1 does not perform any fundamental upgrades, but rather it mainly
fixes faults and problems. Once the update is complete, Vista is
supposed to be faster at copying and unpacking files and the user
account manager will not require so many confirmations. Microsoft
provides an overview of the updates in Service Pack 1 in a white paper.

The reason for Microsoft’s delay in releasing SP1 for download was, among other things, that it wanted to give hardware and software vendors time to make their products compatible with SP1 and to work out any errors, which in some cases was desperately needed. Microsoft had to concede, for example, that certain drivers prevented SP1 from being installed — specifically, it was the setup programs for the drivers which began running during the SP1 installation. Microsoft has not revealed yet which drivers were affected, so it is not clear if the problem is been corrected yet. Certain applications also cause problems, but Microsoft has already released a list of these.

Get Spam? Got Unknown Message?

October 15, 2007 1 comment

There are several number of cases since few day ago regarding the verification of the following New Zealand Web sites(Phishing):

DO NOT VISIT BELOW WEBSITE.
DO NOT PROVIDE ANY WINDOWS LIVE ID AND PASSWORD TO BELOW WEBSITE.

*** FORWARD THIS IMPORTANT NEWS TO YOUR FRIEND ****

  • hxxp://www.msncheckstatus.tk
  • hxxp://www.real-msn.tk
  • hxxp://www.instant-messenger.tk
  • hxxp://www.msndelete-contacts.tk
  • hxxp://www.get-contacts-messenger.tk
  • hxxp://www.get-messenger.com

Once visited, these sites direct users to hxxp://www.get-messenger.com, a site for Get Messenger. It is a tool capable of logging into MSN Messenger servers as a regular instant messaging (IM) client. It authenticates users using the user account and password, retrieves his or her contact list, analyses it and shows which contacts removed the user from the contact list.

The following is stated in the site’s FAQ page:

Is Messenger-Tips a Worm?

Definition: A computer worm is a self-replicating computer program. It uses a network to send copies of itself to other nodes (computer terminals on the network) and it may do so without any user intervention. Unlike a virus, it does not need to attach itself to an existing program. Worms always harm the network (if only by consuming bandwidth), whereas viruses always infect or corrupt files on a targeted computer.

Messenger-Tips does not send copies of itself, it does not work without user intervention and it does not harm the network or any computer. Messenger-Tips is not a worm.

However, the authentication method in delivering the account credentials, such as the users name and password, is not secure. Using Follow TCP Stream, an ethereal packet capture tool, Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security 2007 able to capture an instance when a user name and password are being sent to the program server. Below is the image capture:

This type of insecurity can easily expose a users account information to online identity thieves.

SECOND IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT LIVE MESSENGER (YOU MUST READ):

Many FAKE MSN Messenger / Live Messenger everywhere.
To prevent your Windows Live ID begin steal by your friend and phishing website,
DO NOT sign in your account and password in your friend desktop or laptop or phishing website.
Your friend might download FAKE MSN Messenger / Live Messenger and then tell you sign in.
Once you notice sign in is ERROR in your friend desktop or laptop, then your e-mail and password already saved inside his/her computer(notepad), which he/she can open and view your e-mail and password after leave his/her house.
Once again, if you notice sign in ERROR in your friend desktop/laptop, quickly use his/her desktop or laptop sign in to Windows Live ID and change your OLD password to new password and tell he/she don’t look when you are typing new password.
After successfully change your password, don’t forget to close all the internet explorer and then select tools and select delete browsing history and select delete all to make it more secure.(This step not too secure, because he/she might install a software which call keylogger, which will record what you have entering a character).
So, for a secure way, tell your friend you want to go home. Once you leave he/she house, then you quickly go back to your home.
After reached your home, quicky go to Windows Live ID website again, change your password again. If your password unsuccessful change, then your password might be change by your previous friend.

Don’t Forget To Delete Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, History, Form Data, and Password AFTER you have disconnected internet.
Shortcut:
Click Tools > Click Delete Browsing History > Click Delete All > Click Yes.

Why Should I Delete Temporary Internet Files?
Although temporary internet files can help for faster viewing, because internet explorer copies/stores of webpages, images, and media, so that you can view more quickly compare than reload/refresh the website.

You should delete temporary internet files, because some of the temporary internet files that store on your computer might contain virus, worms, spyware, trojan horse, adware and so on. That why you should delete temporary internet files to protect against latest malware.

Why Should I Delete Cookies?
It is because there is a lot of files stored on your by websites to save preferences such as login informaton.
But some of the TRACKING COOKIES might harmful such as:
  • doubleclick.net
  • serving-sys.com
  • bs.serving-sys.com
  • imrworldwide.com
  • msnaccountservices.112.2o7.net
  • msnportal.112.2o7.net

     and so on.

So, there is a lot of harmful cookies that stores on your computer, after you have visited a website.
Therefore, you should delete cookies after you have disconnect internet.
In addition, that why I recommeded you download and install spyware doctor to automatically clean/delete harmful cookies.

Why Should I Delete History and Form Data?
History will list of the websites you have visited and form data will save all the information that you have typed into forms.
It is recommended that you delete history and form data, because what you have typed in the address bar and forms can be view by anyone who are using the same computer, after you have delete history and form data, another person using the same computer cannot view what you have done when using the internet.

Why Should I Delete Passwords?
Passwords that are automatically filled in when you log on to a website you’ve previously visited.
It is recommended that you delete passwords that stored on your computer, because you password saved on the computer can be steal by anyone who are using the same computer. Moreover that person using the same computer can access the website that you have logged in ealier on the website.

In a nutshell, there is a lot of risk and that why you should click the delete all button in the delete browsing history menu to protect your own privacy. Follow all the above step and the 3 steps to protect your computer well. Update your anti-virus frequently.

I think that all I can say in this blog.
